Individual Style Character Spotlight: Mercedes Jones (Glee)
Introducing Mercedes Jones -- fictional character from the FOX musical comedy-drama series Glee played by actress Amber Riley.
Mercedes Jones is an active member of the Glee Club and diva-in-training who doesn't take kindly to singing backup. Despite her no nonsense in your face demeanor, Mercedes is a great friend. She's full-figured and fierce. Friends, I'm digging this character's personal style. As you know I am an advocate for showcasing individualism when it comes to fashion. Mercedes is SHARP -- never sloppy. Her clothes, hair, and makeup: always on point. love it! [LLIS]
Amber Riley, age 24 native of La Mirada, CA -- auditioned for American Idol at 17. Worked with Glee co-creator Ryan Murphy in 2002 when he cast her in his WB sitcom pilot St. Sass -- show was not picked up. This experience helped Riley land a part in the ensemble cast of Cedric the Entertainer Presents. (Source: AOL Television, Tim Holland.)
Emmy Nominated -- Lou Eyrich got her start from music touring venues and indie film sets of Minneapolis. Read more about Lou on Your Industry Insider or Costume Designers Guild website.

Couch Potato Series: What I'm Watching
Drama!
Showtime Cable Television:
The Big C - love it. Reserved, stifled, and by the book school teacher receives startling news - she has terminal cancer. Cathy begins shedding her tired sensible way of living and starts embracing life; enjoying every minute she can, while she can -- Who says you can't eat dessert as an appetizer? Adorable show. Also, check out Gabourey "Gabby" Sidibe who plays Andrea in the series - she's phenomenal! Yes, she can act. Airs Mondays at 10:30pm ET/PT. Showtime Cable Television.
Dexter - will try my best to continue watching. Sadly, my interest is slowly starting to phase out on this one. Since Rita is gone, I'm giving it another go around. Hello Season 5! Airs Sundays at 10pm ET/PT. Showtime Cable Network.

CBS Television Network:
Criminal Minds -- love love love this television series. Elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country's most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. I'm hooked. (I miss Gideon!) Airs Wednesdays 9/8p Central. CBS Television Network. Catch the marathons airing evenings on A&E - every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
AMC:
Mad Men - Set in 1960s New York. It's sexy. It's stylized. It's provocative. This drama follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell. Joan is my favorite! Love her demeanor. Airs Sundays 10/9c. AMC.
Reality Television!
Lifetime Network:
Project Runway - This season the show gave 17 designers the opportunity to launch their careers in fashion. I love watching creatives in action -- the whining they can keep...sometimes I feel like hitting the mute button on the remote when the designers talk, they whine and complain too much. Nevertheless, still one of my favorite reality shows to watch. Airs Thursdays 9p ET/PT. Lifetime Network.
Bravo Television:
The Real Housewives of Washington D.C - I enjoy watching this show only because it has less cattiness and drama. These ladies appear to be more lady like than the majority of other Bravo Real Housewives. In other news, I am (surprisingly) looking forward to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills -- will see how long I can stomach watching those ahem 'ladies' -- have you seen the trailer for the series! If not see below...gawd.
The Real Housewives of Washington D.C. airs Thursdays 9/8c. Bravo Television.

Comedy!
FOX Network:
Glee: Musical-Comedy Drama. Cute little series showcasing a group of eager and ambitious Ohio students striving to outshine their singing competition while navigating the cruel halls of McKinley High. Sue Sylvester -- very funny. Airs Tuesdays 8/7c. FOX Television Network.
CBS Network:
The Defenders - Borders the line of Drama and Comedy (Legal Show) Slightly Entertaining. The main reason I'm watching...Jurnee Smollett has a role in the series. Jurnee is such a wonderful actress. I'll definitely try to support the show as long as I can. Go Jurnee! Airs Wednesdays 10/9c. CBS.

Lifetime: Project Runway Season 8 (My Secret)
Project Runway Season 8 is already rocking and in full swing. The show premiered Thursday, July 29, 2010. The first episode, which was 90 amazing minutes long, placed extreme pressure on the eager designers -- they had just five hours to create a fabulous outfit! Talk about pressure and on national television...a very intense and nail biting situation lending to the makings of good Reality TV.
In any case, I'm excited about what these new designers will be bringing to the table this season. Amazingly, I get incredibly nervous for the them when the models walk the runway and when they face the judges. Yes, completely ridiculous - but it's the truth. This season is going to be very interesting.
Ah yes, almost forgot to share my secret -- I set the DVR to record the show so that I can fast forward towards the end. [Long Live Individual Style] Carry On!
